Australia U20s coach Adrian Thompson has made five changes to the side that lost to England last week for Australia’s second clash against Scotland at the U20s World Championships.

The young men in gold will be looking for redemption after their disappointing 10-15 loss to Scotland in the pool stages.

Australia will fight with Scotland, Wales and New Zealand to finish in fifth position and ensure the best possible seeding for the 2017 tournament.

In the forwards Faalelei Sione from the Brumbies U20s will earn his first start for the U20s at this tournament when he starts at prop, with Izack Rodda returning to the starting XV alongside Rob Leota who joins the backrow.

Queensland Reds player, Campbell Magnay returns to the starting XV having served his two week suspension for his red card in Australia’s opening pool game. Liam Jurd retains his position in the centres with Simon Kennewell moving to the bench.

“We’ve had to make a number of changes this week but we’ve added some size to the line-up,” Thompson said.

“Faalelei (Sione) hasn’t played yet at the tournament, but he has trained hard and is happy to have his opportunity this weekend.

“Rob (Leota) is also has a brilliant chance to impress with his first start and he’ll add some physicality to our starting pack.

“Having Magnay back will also add some experience and fire-power to the backline, and he is keen to deliver for his team after sitting out the last two games.”

Should Australia defeat Scotland, they’ll then face the winner of the match between Wales and New Zealand in the fifth place play-off on Saturday, 25 June.
