Aussie 7’s to play NZ & Japan ahead of Olympic qualifiers

The Australian Men's Sevens side will play exhibition matches against Japan and New Zealand in preparation for the Oceania Olympic Qualification tournament in Auckland in November. Australia will play Japan before the Bledisloe Cup match in Sydney in a one-off fixture, before facing New Zealand in a six match series, played over three days in Rotorua in mid September. Head coach Geraint John will also send two teams to play in the Central Coast Sevens ahead of the Olympic qualifiers in mid November. "After a break since the London Sevens, we're all looking forward to getting stuck into our pre-season. Japan are in a similar position to us with their Olympic qualification situation so they'll bring an intensity to their game and training that will benefit us hugely," John said.
