New Zealand Schools beat Australian Schools at Ballymore

New Zealand Schools have claimed the Trans-Tasman Shield for the third successive year, beating Australian Schools 32-8 at Ballymore Stadium in Brisbane. Led by classy flyhalf Wiseguy Faiane, the visitors were on top from the opening whistle and scored two tries in each half to claim a dominant 24-point victory. New Zealand dominated possession and territory in the opening exchanges and were unlucky not to score in the sixth minute from a cross field kick. However it didn’t take long for the visitors to open their account, with Isaia Walker barging over from close range after 13 minutes. Faiane added a penalty goal to extend the Kiwis lead to 10, but Australian scrum half Harrison Goddard quickly responded with a penalty goal of his own to take the score to 10-3.
