10 day Nandos binge inspires Tonga’s victory over Namibia

Michael Cheika seems convinced a well rounded squad full of level headed players will be enough to claim the Rugby World Cup in the coming weeks, but maybe he's got it all wrong. Pacific neighbours Tonga have taken a different approach, enforcing a protein heavy diet in the lead up to last night's victory over Namibia. After losing to Georgia 17-10 in the opening match of their campaign, the Tongan boys visited Nandos, a Portuguese inspired fast food outlet, for ten days straight ahead of their match. In fact, some players were spotted more than once a day and enjoyed the chicken so much, they presented the store owner with a signed jersey after their final piece of peri-peri goodness. The store posted the above photo ahead of last nights match, posting on social media, "Last visit from the Tonga team before their match tomorrow! They visited everyday for the past 10 days, and feel like part of our family now!!! Good luck boys." For those keeping score, Tonga defeated Namibia 35
