Men’s and Women’s Aussie 7s sides draw tough Commonwealth Games pools

Australia's Men's Sevens team will face England, Samoa and Jamaica in the pool stage of April's Commonwealth Games, while the Olympic gold medalist winning Women's side will play Fiji, England and Wales. Unlike the World Series tournaments, just four teams will progress from the pool stages to the semi finals, meaning both sides will more than likely need to win all three pool matches to progress to the knockout stages. For the men, England appear to be the major danger, however Samoa also present a difficult challenge. The women won't meet New Zealand or Canada until the knockout stages, but will still need to be at their best to negotiate matches against Fiji and England. Both tournaments will be played over three days at Robina Stadium on the Gold Coast from the 13th to 15th of April.
