Wallaby and Waratah winger Drew Mitchell is in doubt for Saturday week’s final Super Rugby game against the Reds at ANZ Stadium after injuring his ankle playing for Randwick today.

It occurred in the second half after Mitchell plunged over for his team’s lone try in a  29-7 loss to competition leaders Eastwood  on a rain-soaked arena at Coogee. Coach John Manenti was delighted with his team’s first half efforts in attempting to play some lively rugby in taking a lead of 15-0. “I’d give them 8 out of 10 for that,” he said.

The Woodies now lead by nine points from Southern Districts, who disposed of Warringah 44-17 and ten from Sydney University, who play Eastern Suburbs tomorrow at University Oval.

Concord Oval was saturated and the rain pelted down throughout the game that saw West Harbour untroubled in their four try, bonus point win over Gordon.

Gordon fullback Mark Preston finds running the ball out a little difficult on a waterlogged Concord Oval which usually drains very well. An onlooker commented,”It’s raining so hard the mud is being washed out of the jerseys.”
