Southern Districts (3) v Sydney University (4)

Southern Districts will host their first ever finals match this weekend when Sydney Uni head south to take on the Rebels at Forshaw this Sunday.

Souths produced one of their worst performances of 2015, going down to West Harbour 17-16 last weekend and have been dealt a further blow, with centre Apo Latunipalu and flanker Marcus Carbone both ruled out for the remainder of the season through injury.

In stark contract, Sydney Uni come flying into the finals on the back of a 52-12 demolition of Norths last weekend in Tom Carter’s 200th club game.

The Students have named Tolu Latu at prop and Jeremy Tilse at lock in a stellar forward pack that also features Dave Dennis and Pat McCutcheon.

Despite that, Uni coach Chris Malone thinks his side will need to improve to beat the side that defeated the Students 31-10 at University Oval just over a month ago.

“They were very impressive that day, as they have been all year. You don’t come third by good luck. We will have to control possession a lot better than we did in that fixture to stand a chance down at a hostile Forshaw Park,” Malone said.

Catch that match live on 7TWO on Sunday from 2:30pm.
