CAS I have recorded a dominant 26-0 victory over GPS I in their opening match of the 2017 NSW Schools trials. While GPS dominated possession and territory early, CAS defended their line strongly in a scoreless first half. CAS then took control shortly after the break with three quick tries including two from intercepts, before sealing a famous victory with a try to Byron Hollingworth-Dessent. Waverley flyhalf Ben Donaldson finished the match with a double and 16 of CAS’ 26 points. Earlier in the evening, GPS II fought back from 26-14 down to claim a 31-31 draw against CAS II.
