Warringah name team to play UQ in Australian Club Championship

Warringah coach Darren Coleman has named a near full strength side to play UQ in Saturday afternoon's Australian Club Championship at Rat Park in Sydney. 14 players from the side that beat Northern Suburbs in last year's Shute Shield decider will feature in Warringah's matchday 23, with former Wallaby Mark Gerrard set to make a shock return for his old club after spending the past few seasons playing and coaching in Japan. Rats flyhalf Hamish Angus will miss the clash after suffering an injury while playing Sevens, handing veteran Myles Dorrian a start at No.10. Former Glasgow Warriors squad member Ruaridh Mackenzie will start at No.8, forcing Sam Ward to shift to lock, while former NSW U20s flanker Max Girdler has also played his way into Coleman's starting XV. Warringah will use the match to raise awareness of a NSW Government initiative to tackle domestic violence, with the two 2017 premiers set to play for the Tackling Violence Australian Club Championship Cup.
