Super Rugby: Reds To Go Pink For Special Ladies Round
Reds Media Release –
Queensland Rugby Union today launched Ladies Round, ahead of the Queensland Reds clash with the Cheetahs at Suncorp Stadium this Friday.
Queensland Rugby is saluting the significant role women play in Rugby in the state – whether it be playing, officiating, as fans, or nurturing the next generation of players and fans.
Reds Ladies Round is being celebrated with the creation of a specially designed jersey for this Friday’s match. The jersey features pinked versions of the collar, trim, Reds logo and the iconic Queensland Rugby ‘Q’. The shirts will also include the individualised names of each of the player’s mothers on the back of their jersey, below the playing number.
The jerseys were today unveiled by Reds flanker Eddie Quirk and his mother Monica.

Queensland Rugby today also announced its support of the Mater Foundation, as part of Ladies Round. The Mater Foundation will this weekend celebrate International Women’s Day with its annual fun run.
Quirk and his mother have a special affiliation to the Mater, as the hospital helped Monica overcome breast cancer.
“Queensland Rugby’s Ladies Round is a great initiative and its support of the Mater is a cause close to my heart,” Quirk said.
“The Mater staff are outstanding and their hard work and care has allowed my mother to beat cancer. She’s able to watch me play footy as a result of the hard work of people at the Mater Foundation.”
The Mater Foundation will celebrate International Women’s Day this Sunday by hosting a fun run and they are encouraging all Reds fans to sign up for the run in support of the Foundation.
Mater Foundation Executive Director, Fundraising Lesley Ray, said the Mater Foundation is proud to be working with the Reds to help raise awareness for breast cancer and the Mater Foundation fun run.
“International Women’s Day is a wonderful acknowledgement to the achievements of women and it’s great to have two Queensland icons in Queensland Rugby and Mater come together to celebrate that fact,” Ray said.
“With the rugby on Friday and the fun run on Sunday it’s a great opportunity for Brisbane women to make a fun weekend of it.”
The Reds face the Cheetahs at Suncorp Stadium this Friday, 7 March, at 7:40pm.
