Shute Shield Teams for Round Two: Marr at fullback for Rats, Wicks start a new flyhalf, Marlins wild about Harry
By MARK CASHMAN
Warringah first grade coach Mike Ruthven has named Dean Blore at flyhalf and the electrifying Ben Marr at fullback for the Rats big Shute Shield encounter against Randwick on Saturday.
There has been considerable speculation about where the two pieces of the Warringah first grade jigsaw would fit and they have gone for the vision and explosive attacking abilities of Marr at the back.
Blore came to Warringah from Penrith in the off-season and has fitted in well at Rat Park and will play a major part in the way that the Rats go about their business in 2021.
The side also sees the return of prop Rory O’Connor from a sabbatical and the naming of former Gordon forward Hugh Margin at lock.
Randwick head coach Ben McCormack has brought Ben Starkey into the No.10 jersey and Triston Reilly in at outside centre for the game.
Manly have brought evergreen backrower Harry Bergelin into their pack as they attempt to pick themselves up off the deck after conceding 78 points against defending premiers Gordon last Saturday at Manly Oval.
At Northern Suburbs Zac Beer has brought Dave Henaway into his pack at lock and named Kiwi import Tyler Kearns to start at prop when they travel to Newcastle for their clash with the Hunter Wildfires.
Todd Louden has looked to his “Mr Fix It” Christian Kagiassis to slot in at No.10 for the Rebels first home game of the season against Eastwood at Forshaw.
Kagiassis started on the wing last Saturday against Eastern Suburbs at Woollahra Oval and his vision and smarts will be much appreciated in the wake of the Rebels leaving a few tries on the park against the Beasties.
