Rennie, Thorn & Bennett to feature at grassroots Youth Rugby Coaches Forum
Wallabies coach Dave Rennie, Reds coach Brad Thorn and league legend Wayne Bennett will headline a Youth Rugby Coaching Forum open to all Australian grassroots rugby coaches in Brisbane early next year.
It’s hoped the two day event, held at Nudgee College, will attract rugby coaches from junior, club and school teams from around the country and help Australian coaches develop ‘best practice’ by bouncing ideas off one another and some of most experienced coaches across both codes.
“In my experience in Australian schoolboy rugby over the last 15 or so years, I have been really fortunate to work alongside some incredibly inspiring coaches and managers in schools and clubs from within my area of SEQ,’’ organiser Sean Graham said.
“I do feel, however, as coaches in schools and clubs, we could be more proactive and open to sharing and collaborating our ideas and extending our networks beyond our local regions.
“We want to provide an opportunity where coaches from schools and clubs from across Australia can network in the hope of creating long term relationships to facilitate ongoing sustained collaboration.’’
The two day forum will focus on the development of young male and female rugby players both on and off the field with academics, sports scientists and representatives from Rugby Australian and the Queensland Rugby Union set to present.
