QLD U18s confident ahead of opening Academy clashes against NSW
Queensland have named two strong U18s Academy teams to play NSW in the first of two interstate matches at Southport this weekend.
The Maroon team features a mixture of players from GPS and AIC schools as well as a handful of under 18 players that finished school last year.
Centre Will Latu from Kirwin State High in Townsville has earned the starting No.12 jersey and will partner fellow North Queensland product Jackson Barling in the midfield.
Padua lock Max Johnson and St Peter’s utility back Kadin Pritchard were also rewarded for their strong form in this year’s AIC competition with spots in the starting side.
The White team will take on NSW II and also features a mixture of current students and school leavers.
Brothers quartet Oliver Harvey, Will Cartwright, Harry Grant and Asher Wilson will lineup alongside one another and wear the No.8, No.9, No.10 and No.11 jerseys respectively.
QLD White v NSW II kicks off at 1:30pm on Saturday with QLD Maroon v NSW I at 3pm.
