Catch a review of the action below.
Brothers 27 v Sunnybank 26
Brothers’ claimed a nail-biting win over a brave Sunnybank outfit at Crosby Park on Saturday.
A hotly contested first half saw momentum swing and both side’s trade five pointers. Brothers’ two first half tries stemmed from long range efforts from fullback Samuel Hyne and flanker Nick Cross.
Sunnybank crossed on two occasions of their own though. David Feliuia Lene’s brilliant individual run down the left wing saw the Dragon’s open the scoring before winger Puni Aupuni took the visitors within two points of Brothers at half time.
The Dragon’s had the better of the second forty with two tries to Brothers’ one through Brendan Bell. Josh Fenner’s 71st minute try and subsequent Tom Lucas conversion put Sunnybank in front by two points.
Tayler Adams’ steeled himself once again to execute a 78th minute penalty conversion that gave Brothers their fifth win of the season.
Brothers will play GPS next weekend while Sunnybank will do battle with Easts at Biggs Oval.
UQ 14 v GPS 20
GPS defeated UQ in a low scoring tussle at St Lucia on Saturday.
Both sides were scoreless at the main break after a first half dominated by staunch defence and mistakes in attack.
The Galloper’s quickly changed the complexion of the game with two tries to winger Veresa Mataitini. The flyer managed to score his second try despite pulling a hamstring and kicking for himself in a remarkable forty metre effort.
Late UQ tries for Kye Oates and Drew Petelo saw the home side come within a converted try of GPS but it proved too little too late.
GPS play Brothers at Yoku Road next Saturday while UQ suffered their third loss in four games and will face competition leader’s Wests.
Easts 47 v Bond 19
Easts’ secured their second win of the season in a dominant display against a top four Bond side at Bottomley Park.
The Tiger’s displayed no sign of rustiness despite only playing one game in the last month. First half tries to winger Tyrees Wilson and hooker Richie Asiata gave Easts a 12-5 lead at the break.
The second stanza saw Easts produce their strongest football of the season as they scored five tries to Bond’s two. Double’s for forward’s Asiata and Van Nek gave the Tiger’s faithful plenty to cheer about.
Bond’s Connor Pritchard was again a shining light with two tries of his own late in the contest.
Easts will play Souths mid-week in a game originally scheduled for round five while Bond head into their second bye.
Souths 17 v Wests 51
Wests’ returned to top of the competition table following a comprehensive victory over Souths at Chipsy Wood Oval on Saturday.

Both Skelton’s crossed for Wests in the second half to create an unassailable lead.
