Premier Rugby Round 12: Five Standout Performers

Easts, UQ, GPS and Brothers claimed finals shaping victories over the weekend.

Here are five standout performances from Saturday’s games.

Elijah Pilz – Easts

Easts’ creative scrumhalf was central to his side’s important victory over competition leader’s Wests.

Pilz continued his fantastic form since returning from injury earlier this season.

The No.9 converted seven of his seven opportunities in front of the uprights and his weighted pass to Jake Pappin ultimately decided the result in Easts favour.

Sam Wallis – UQ

UQ’s flanker displayed his physicality and intensity in his team’s strong win over Souths.

Wallis opened the scoring after a forty-metre sprint that stemmed from an ingenious quick tap.

The No.7 also had a major hand in Kye Oates’ and TJ Siakisini’s tries throughout the contest.

Harry McMahon – Souths

Souths’ speedster was a rare bright spot on an otherwise difficult afternoon for the Magpies against UQ.

After a quiet start, McMahon dashed thirty metres from a kick off to draw a yellow card against UQ.

The No.14’s second half double included an outstanding passing exchange with scrumhalf Jakob Morrison down the right touchline that resulted in a special five pointer.

Paddy James – Brothers

The Brothers’ veteran helped his side overcome a scare from Norths at Crosby Park.

James crossed in the 77th minute for the match winning try and also set up Ash Watson with quick hands early in the second half to extend Brothers’ lead.

Emosi Tuqiri – GPS

In a game of small margins Tuqiri proved more than damaging as GPS narrowly defeated Bond at home.

GPS’ prop came off the bench at the start of the second half and had an immediate impact by scoring in the 43rd minute and extending the Galloper’s margin to nine.

Tuqiri was resolute in defence and safely navigated the final scrum of the game to secure the win.
