Three rescheduled round four contests over the weekend saw victories for GPS, Brothers and Easts.

Catch a review of the three games below.

Easts 50 v Norths 19

Easts secured a comprehensive victory against Norths at Bottomley Park on Saturday afternoon.

The home side were dominant in the opening stanza crossing four unanswered times. Returning player’s Andrew Ready and Shea Lalagavesi scored early before the Tiger’s added two more to lead 24-0 at the break.

Easts and Norths traded blows in an even second half. Forward’s Leeming and Asiata combined to score for the Tiger’s before Bartholomew Ritchie crossed from a rolling maul for North’s first points. Asher Milne provided an Eagle’s highlight with a long-range intercept penalty try that was almost denied.

The Tigers were ultimately too strong and face Wests next week while Norths play Brothers.

GPS 41 v Sunnybank 24

GPS have propelled themselves into the top four after a win over Sunnybank at Yoku Road over the weekend.

Sunnybank showed their quality with a more than competitive first half showing as GPS led 20-17 at half time. The Dragon’s scored the opening two tries of the match, including a brilliant Puni Aupuni try off a David Feliuia Lene grubber kick, to silence the home fans.

GPS wrestled back momentum with three of the next four tries coming from hooker Maile Ngauamo’s rolling maul efforts. Sunnybank’s third first half try stemmed from a brilliant Tom Lucas carry that resulted in Feliuia Lene finishing off.

Sunnybank started the second half in style as Tom Lucas again set up his teammate Neal McNamara to sprint toward the posts. The Dragon’s lead didn’t last much longer as Maile Ngauamo added his fourth personal try. Fullback Selesitino Ravutaumada pulled off a stunning interception in the 67th minute before reserve prop Emosi Tuqiri sealed the result for GPS.

The Galloper’s face Bond in a crucial clash next week while Sunnybank will head into the bye.

Brothers 39 v Souths 20

Brothers have moved into second place after claiming a hard-fought victory over South’s at Crosby Park on Saturday.

Both sides had their moments in the opening forty as Brother’s led 10-8 at half-time. Captain Theo Fourie got Souths off to the perfect start scoring the opening try within five minutes. Brother’s regained control and added two five pointers of their own.

Brother’s kicked away in the second half adding five tries to South’s two. Magpie’s skipper Fourie made it a double early in the second stanza before Brother’s winger Billy Bulley scored a quick-fire hattrick to put the game to bed.

The Brethren will battle Norths next weekend while Souths will meet UQ.
