NSW U16s v QLD U16s: Standout Performers
NSW U16s were fat too good for their Queensland rivals, scoring 32 unanswered points in a comprehensive 32-3 victory.
Here are our pick of the players from the afternoon’s earlier match on Sunday
Michell Woods (NSW No.15/St Patrick’s College)
Woods look dangerous every time he touched the ball and used his speed to create space and opportunity for himself and his teammates all afternoon.
Marshall Le Maitre (NSW No.7/Shore)
The big bodied No.7 has a fantastic work rate and was involved in everything in the dominant victory. Le Maitre’s speed to the breakdown allowed NSW to play an up tempo style that QLD weren’t able to match
Sam Blank (NSW No.9/St Augustine’s)
A nippy No.9 with a great pass and good speed around the park, Blank helped his team move quickly around the park, then took his opportunities and ran the ball well when needed.
Max Meagher (NSW No.2/Trinity)
The Trinity hooker controlled the set piece for his side and carried the ball well all afternoon, even if he did have one slight faux pas when over the line in the first half.
Zach Fittler (NSW No.22/Scots)
The replacement centre couldn’t be any less like his father, who was known for his speed and footwork. Zach is a big bodied No.12, with tremendous size and strength for his age. If he does choose the XV man game, his leg drive will be a serious asset.
