NSW Schools: Schoolboy Hunter Ward scores 5 tries in first grade debut

Just a week after missing out on selection in the Australian Schoolboys side, NSW II No.8 Hunter Ward has scored five tries in his first grade debut for Central West club Orange City. The Stannies Bathurst forward returned to his junior club while the ISA competition was on break for school holidays and made an immediate impact in Orange City’s 65-0 win over Dubbo Rhinos. Australian Schools selector Adrian Thompson told Rugby News last week that a number of spots in both the Australian Schools and Australian Schools Barbarians squads were still up for grabs and Ward’s recent effort certainly won’t hurt his chances. With five rounds remaining, Orange City are three points outside of the top five heading into next weekend’s local derby against competition leaders Orange Emus.
