NSW Schools: Inter-Association Trials Week 3 Wrap Up

Scots confirmed their spot at the top of the NSW Schoolboy rugby throne with a comfortable 45-19 victory over local rivals Waverley in front of a strong crowd at Bellevue Hill.

After a tight and tough opening period, Scots kicked up a gear and scored three unanswered tries through Will Harris, Ben Zucchiatti and Brett Wellington to take a 26-5 lead to the break.

While Waverley showed glimpses of their best in the second half, the Double V couldn’t match Scots up front, as the home side’s forward pack set the platform for another three second half tries and a 26 point victory.

Elsewhere, Trinity caused the upset of the weekend, beating Joeys 22-19 after kicking a long range penalty goal on full time.

In a seesawing battle, Trinity scored to go ahead 19-12 with 10 minutes remaining but leaked a soft try soon after that allowed Joeys to level the scores.

Trinity had the upper hand at scrum time and made the most of their dominance in the closing stages, earning a set piece penalty towards the sideline on Joeys’ 40 metre line.

Flyhalf Tane Edmed didn’t hesitate and kicked the long range attempt to seal a famous three point win for Trinity.

At Parramatta, the Kings’ backline ran rampant in the second half to help their side claim a comfortable 59-7 victory over Knox.

St Augustine’s bounced back from a disappointing loss to beat Newington 33-27 while Riverview, Barker, Cranbrook and St Greg’s also recored victories.
