NSW Gen Blue U18s name strong squads to play QLD

NSW have named two strong Gen Blue U18s sides to play Queensland later this week.

Following the completion of the NSW Schools trials on Friday, Gen Blue coaches selected several squads featuring the best under 18 talent from across the state.

The first XV side features a number of players who graduated school in 2020 but are still  young enough to play under 18s rugby in 2021.

Impressive Joeys hooker Paddy Burns will play alongside 2020 graduates Harrison Usher and Jamie Clark in the NSW Gen Blue U18s front row.

Waverley duo Fritz Jahnke-Tavana and Clem Halaholo have been named at lock and flanker respectively while impressive Riverview No.8 Sam Allsopp has also been named in the starting forward pack.

In the backs, GPS II and Riverview flyhalf Jack Bowen played his way into the starting No.10 jersey, with CAS I and Barker No.10 Isaiah Katoa shifting to inside centre.

Joeys fullback Max Jorgensen earned the starting No.15 jersey after impressing through the trial period.

CHS No.8 Luron Patea, who made his first grade Shute Shield debut for Penrith earlier this year will spearhead a strong NSW Gen Blue II side.

The CAS II front row were rewarded for their strong performance against GPS II last week with props Oniti Finau and Jack Black named in the starting side and hooker Romeo Bray on the bench.

ISA and St Augustine’s playmaker Jed Walsh, brother of former schoolboy star Jack Walsh, earned the starting No.10 jersey. GPS rivals Jonny Chan and Eddie Arnett will partner in the midfield while Knox outside backs Tom Morrison and Theo Kidd were also named in the starting side.
