NSW Country Cockatoos team named to play QLD Country

Photo: Allan Ryan NSW Country Cockatoos coach Mat Thomas has named a strong team to take on QLD Country in this Saturday's annual Border Shield clash in Newcastle. On the back of a 40-7 win over NSW Subbies and a 50-34 victory over Brumbies Provincial earlier this month, Thomas has tinkered with his line up slightly with Newcastle Hunter flyhalf Dane Sherratt returning to the starting side after playing from the bench in the Cockatoo's last clash in Canberra. “Although we played well in patches in our two victories so far, we know that QLD Country are the current holders of the shield and we will have to step up another few gears to get the result on the weekend," Thomas said. In a positive sign for bush footy, all nine NSW Country zones are represented in the matchday 23. The main clash will be played at 5:50pm at Southern Beaches Rugby Club in Newcastle, following the NSW Country Colts match against QLD Country Colts. NSW Country Cockatoos team to play QLD Countr
