NSW Country Cockatoos & Colts sides named to play ACT Provincial & Gen Blue

NSW Country Cockatoos coach Mat Thomas has named a new look side to plat ACT Provincial at Camden on Saturday. Thomas’ squad features just six players with Cockatoos experience, but after spending time together last month, the coach is confident heading into his side’s first competitive clash of the season. “We’ll be looking for the leadership of Chris Miller, who is joining us after a year Jackarooing in the Northern Territory. We’ll need him to really guide the squad” Thomas said. “We plan to play a wide, expansive game against the Brumbies Provincial to really showcase our new team” he added. The NSW Country Colts side will also feature on Saturday and play against four NSW Gen Blue sides picked from Sydney’s colts competition. Selectors will use the colts matches to pick an extended NSW U19s squad to begin preparations for the inaugural National Rugby Under 19s Championship later this year.
