Olympic Sevens stars Cam Clark and Con Foley have been named in the Sydney Rays side to play Perth Spirit on Friday night.

Clark, who recently signed a two-year deal with the Waratahs, will start at fullback while Foley has been named on the bench.

The pair have had only a handful of sessions under head coach Simon Cron but they have impressed enough to be handed spots in the matchday 23.

“Fullback is definitely where I feel most comfortable,” Clark told the SMH.

“It’s the patterns and calls that I have had to learn quite quickly, along with my timing and positional play.

“I’ve always wanted to have a crack at the 15-man game and looking at the Olympics I saw it as a good way to finish my Sevens time for the moment.

“There will be some bigger boys running around (on Friday night) and bigger collisions so I might need a bit of extra padding to help me get through that.”

Waratahs recruit and former Brumby Michael Wells has been named in the back row, with his Northern Suburbs teammate Nick Palmer also set to start his first match of the 2016 NRC season.
