Match Preview: Greater Sydney Rams v North Harbour Rays
2015 hasn’t quite gone to plan for the Greater Sydney Rams or the North Harbour Rays, but that shouldn’t take anything away from tonight’s clash at Parramatta Stadium.
The Rams have fallen just short on a number of occasions so far this year, with goal kicking the difference in at least three of their five losses. Facing Perth and Brisbane in the final two rounds, the Rams are desperate to claim victory against their Sydney rivals tonight and have added Australian Sevens star Afa Pakalani to their line-up for the local derby.
However the Rays boast plenty of strike power as well and will unleash Manly’s Sam Lane and Warringah’s Hamish Angus in the same backline for the first time this year, with the latter named at fullback for tonight’s clash.
“Having Hamo (Angus) at fullback gives us that second first receiver to keep things on the boil and that will be vital against a side like the Rams,” Rays coach Geoff Townsend said.
“Because of the nature of our side we need to keep the momentum high and move them around the field a bit and having those two in our side will be crucial to that.”
The Rams and Rays meet at 7:30pm tonight.
