Shute Shield: Round 7 Wrap Up
Manly claimed Northern Beaches bragging rights, Sydney Uni fought back to beat Easts and West Harbour proved they are the real deal with a tight win over Eastwood at TG Millner.

Southern Districts 61-17 Gordon
Southern Districts scored nine tries to claim their second straight victory and move within one win of the Shute Shield top three.
Wingers Luke Smart and Rowland Kotobalavu both bagged doubles and flyhalf Ben Chalmers kicked eight of nine goals in his first grade run on debut.
Gordon No.8 Tala Moli was a standout in a losing side again and scored one of the Highlanders two tries.
Despite losing four straight matches earlier this season, Souths can move into the top six if they can beat Sydney Uni next weekend. Gordon are 11th and host Norths in a local derby in round eight.
Sydney Uni 27-19 Eastern Suburbs
Sydney Uni scored 14 unanswered second half points and secured top spot on the Shute Shield ladder with a 27-19 win over Easts at Woollahra.
In front of a big crowd on Ladies Day, Easts winger Henry Patterson scored midway through the second half to give the home side a 19-13 lead, before the Students took control and scored the final two tries in their sixth win of the year.
Paddy Ryan scored a double for Sydney Uni and helped the Students pick up another four try bonus point to stay one competition point ahead of Norths.
Easts drop down to fifth spot following their second straight loss and travel to play Warringah at Rat Park next week. Uni host Souths.
West Harbour 27-24 Eastwood
West Harbour have jumped into the top three for the first time this season after upsetting Eastwood at TG Millner.
The Woodies led 12-0 early but West Harbour were able to fight back from behind twice and scored the final 10 points to claim a morale boosting win.
Former Southland winger Junior Ngaluafe scored two tries for the Pirates, who are quickly becoming a premiership threat.
Wests can secure their spot at the top end of the ladder with a win over Parramatta in a western Sydney derby next weekend, while Eastwood have the bye in round eight.
Manly 34-24 Warringah
Manly backrower Kotoni Ale played a starring role from the bench in the Marlins 34-24 victory over Warringah in Saturday’s Northern Beaches derby.
In front of a full house at Manly Oval, the Marlins jumper out to a 14-0 lead before Josh Holmes crossed twice to get Warringah back in the match.
Rats prop Harry Rorke scored midway through the second half to level the scores at 24 all, but Ale swung momentum back in the home sides favour with a crucial turnover and a try with eight minutes remaining.
Warringah have now lost two straight matches and drop out of the top six following Saturday’s disappointing result.
Manly are fourth and travel to Coogee to play Randwick next weekend.
Northern Suburbs 44-18 Parramatta
Norths overcame a slow start to claim a bonus point win over Parramatta but the victory was soured by an injury to captain Hugh Sinclair.
The Two Blues dominated the first half and led 13-11 but were unable to match Norths after the break and conceded five unanswered tries.
George Miller, younger brother of former Norths skipper Will Miller, impressed in his run on debut for the Shoreman and scored one of his side’s six tries.
Sinclair is expected to miss a number of matches after reportedly breaking his jaw in the clash. Norths take on Gordon in a local derby in round eight while Parramatta face West Harbour.
