Hegarty to start at No.10 for Waratahs against Force in Super Rugby opener

Utility back Bryce Hegarty will start at flyhalf for the NSW Waratahs against the Western Force on Saturday after Bernard Foley was ruled out after failing to recover from a concussion. Hegarty played 33 matches for the Melbourne Rebels before playing in Japan in 2015. He signed with the Waratahs last year but a knee injury kept him on the sideline for the majority of the season. Hegarty started at flyhalf for the Waratahs in their big trial match win over the Brumbies earlier this month. “Bernard hasn’t met our ‘return to play’ protocols so will miss round one," Daryl Gibson said. “While he has been improving daily since last Thursday’s game, he’s not 100 per cent fit to play and we certainly won’t be taking any risks. “He will be with us in South Africa and we have confidence he’ll be ready for round two. “Bryce Hegarty will step into the number ten position nicely for us this weekend. “He has the experience with 34 Super Rugby games to his name and has
