George Gregan backs Rebels to make Super Rugby finals

Former Wallabies skipper George Gregan believes the Melbourne Rebels are good enough to feature in the Super Rugby finals this season. The Melbourne based side recorded their best result last year, finishing the regular season in 10th place and the former scrumhalf believes Tony McGahan's side will continue to improve in the newly structured 18-team competition. “I think they’ve got a good squad and the depth in their backrow really jumps out at you,” he said at the Rebels season launch. “There is fierce competition there and, as we saw during the World Cup, breakdowns are a really important area and they’ve got some wonderful players in their backrow to compete hard there. “They’ve got a really good midfield and some good finishers in the back three.” McGahan told supporters that his goal was to win another seven matches in 2016, however Gregan thinks the Rebels will shock a number of teams this year. “I think they have potential; they have kept the bulk o
