Eastwood quickly appoint new first grade head coach

Eastwood have moved quickly to appoint a new first grade coach following Ben Batger’s announcement that he would be moving on from the club at the end of the season.

David Telfer, who currently runs Eastwood’s successful colts program, will take on the top job next season.

Telfer has overseen the complete turnaround of the Woodies’ colts in his three year’s at the club and is highly respected for his work in junior and colts rugby over the past decade.

“He has also been heavily involved in the Eastwood District Juniors – for example at the last State Championships he voluntarily took on the u16s side and coached them to a grand final spot,” a statement from Eastwood read.

“As importantly, Dave has embraced our Club, our history, values and ethos and made a major contribution to taking the Club forward and building and strengthening our culture.

“Our Club prides itself on providing opportunity and pathways for our players and for our coaches and its a source of great satisfaction to see Dave’s career progress since he joined the Woods. We know he’ll give it everything he’s got.”
