Eastwood and Easts have both made a number of changes to their starting sides as they search for their first wins of the season. 

Eastwood were disappointing in a narrow loss to Randwick at home last week, while Easts, one of the more favoured teams during preseason, were belted by a very good Norths outfit at Woollahra. 

Woodies coach Ben Batger has added hooker Ed Craig and backrower Sione Tau to his starting forward pack, while Harry Wilson returns to the Eastwood midfield at outside centre. 

Josh Noonan will start at scrumhalf again this week, with Matt Gonzales in Singapore after a long overdue call up to the Australian Sevens squad. 

“We were really disappointed with our round one performance,” Batger told Rugby News. 

“Our effort was there but our execution was very poor, particularly our ball security, one on one tackling and set piece. 

“We’ve focussed this week on our execution and the standards we all need to play at as individuals. If everyone does their own job, then we’re confident that we can produce a much better performance.

New Easts coach Simon Kneebone has swung that axe after a disappointing first round performance. 

In the forward, Faalelei Sione and Archer Holz will both start in the front row, Byron Sutherland will start at lock, Archie Gavin starts at No.7 and Will Nicholls moves to the backrow. 

In the backs, Teddy Wilson will start at No.9, Jordan Jackson-Hope moves forward from fullback to inside centre, Sam Fogerty shifts to the wing and Kiwi import Luke Glen will start at fullback.

“Easts will be probably be feeling a little bit like us,” Batger said. 

“They’ll be looking for a big improvement on round one and we’ll need to put pressure on them because they have lots of talented players and will be equally desperate for the win.”
