All the Round Five Shute Shield teams: Manly’s Attwater move, Clements returns, injuries at Gordon
By MARK CASHMAN
Manly playmaker Harley Attwater loves to be the centre of attention and he will get that chance when the Marlins travel to Sydney Uni to take on the Students in the Round Five Shute Shield match on Saturday.
Attwater has been “one out” for the first month of the season playing in the No.12 jersey but Manly coach Matt McGoldrick has moved him to flyhalf as they gear themselves for a major crack at Uni.
Keeping the screws on the Students and playing at the right end of the field will be a major part of the game plan for the visitors on Saturday and obviously the Marlins feel that Attwater is the man for this occasion.
Olllie Horne moves to inside centre and the speedy Fraser Toohey will get a chance to do his stuff from the front end of this encounter.
The Marlins pushed Uni all the way in the corresponding fixture last season and always get themselves up for this one.
Uni coach Rob Taylor has tweaked his line-up off the back of their 50-0 win over Penrith with fullback Tim Clements returning and Henry Clunies-Ross showing his vale by moving to outside centre.
Southern Districts coach Todd Louden has tweaked his backline for their big match of the day encounter against Gordon at Chatswood Oval.
Louden has brought Myles Thoroughgood into the No.10 jersey, moved Christian Kagiassis to winger and pushed Fred Dorrough to fullback.
The Rebels backline was pretty clunky against Northern Suburbs last weekend and they will be looking to make amends against the Highlanders.
An interesting selection is that of Roberto Ipinui on the wing. He is a well performed Kiwi on the edges of selection in the Mitre 10 Cup.
Gordon will have to work around injuries to flyhalf Reece MacDonald and winger Alesana Pohla.
Ben Pollack gets the start in the No.10 jersey while a reconstituted backline features Kevin Fuavao, Tali Finau, Kurt Heatherly and the speedy Jaline Graham.
At Northern Suburbs Brad Hemopo returns to the Shoremen’s starting side after working from the bench last weekend.
Dave Henaway will start the game at lock with Jack Whetton with Jeremy Burrill on the bench. Nathan Russell has been named at outside centre.
