Shute Shield: Maloney and revamped team will add life and volume to the TV coverage of club footy

As a youngster on Sydney’s northern beaches Sean Maloney would park himself on the lounge room floor in front of the television a packet of chips in hand and take in weekly broadcast of the Shute Shield on the ABC.
It fired up a love of the game that saw him play first grade at the Manly Marlins and have a dabble a bit further up the peninsula at Warringah at one stage as well as a stint overseas as a professional in Europe.
All through that time his dream job was to call the footy and in many ways that has happened with his work at Fox Sports as part of their rugby team and more recently on the World Sevens Series with World Rugby.
He’s now part of the Seven Two Shute Shield commentary team and will be sharing calling duties with Tony Lewis, the man who has been in the chair for the past five years.
“In many ways calling Shute Shield this year is coming full circle for me,” Maloney said.
“I can remember watching the games most Saturday after
