Jack Maddocks named in new role ahead of Rebels opening trial against Brumbies

Wallabies development player Jack Maddocks has been named at flyhalf for the Melbourne Rebels ahead of their first trial match of the year against the Brumbies in Queanbeyan on Saturday. Maddocks has played the majority of his rugby in the outside backs, but will wear the No.10 jersey on Saturday afternoon alongside 12 players wearing the Rebels jersey for the first time. Former West Harbour flyhalf and 2017 Ken Catchpole Medal winner Tayler Adams has been named at fullback with new coach Dave Wessells obviously keen to test several combinations ahead of the start of the Super Rugby season. “We’ve selected our squad for the trial against the Brumbies on merit; these players, some of who will get the chance to pull on the Rebels jersey for the first time, have earned the first opportunity to make the jersey their own.” Wessels said. “The Brumbies have set the benchmark in Australian rugby for the last decade, so the trial match on Saturday is important for us in term
